In a great Channel 4 documentary, ‘Superkids: Breaking Away from Care’, Lemn Sissay met seven young people who are in the care of their council and set out to help them express their experiences through words and perform them to a packed theatre of decision-makers.

Lemn Sissay MBE is a care leaver and associate artist at Southbank Centre, patron of The Letterbox Club and The Reader Organisation, ambassador for The Children’s Reading Fund, trustee of Forward Arts Foundation and inaugural trustee of World Book Night and an honorary doctor of Letters. He has been a writer from birth and foremost he is a poet.
