The IMO Podcast is a series of open and honest conversations with care leavers that gives a voice to the diverse experiences that make up the care population. Each episode we invite someone who’s been in care to talk about anything they like. It’s an opportunity to hear the voices of people who often don’t get the chance to tell their stories, and it’s a chance to inspire and encourage others in similar situations.
Subscribe to the IMO podcast on Google, Apple or Spotify to hear episodes as they’re released.
In the fifth episode of series 3, Scarlett talks to IMO about the powerful animations she’s created about her own and others journeys through the foster care system, being separated from her family and siblings, and the compromises the system causes you to make.
When I come across someone who has had a bad childhood, and or been in the foster care system it’s like meeting a long lost friend because they just know exactly what you’ve been through.
This is actually the first time I’ve been asked about my experience, like no one else in society really knows how to talk about it, or I don’t know if they care.
