Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England said:

This report paints a troubling picture of the pressures on the children’s social care complaints system, making it unable to meet children’s needs. We also know from our own work that public sector complaint processes are not generally child-friendly and from our advice line, that many children and young people don’t get their concerns resolved locally.

“Social care providers are legally bound to have effective complaint systems, so local authorities must make sure they are accessible to children and young people. They should use our Common Principles for a Child Friendly Complaints Process to help them to do so.”
