In response to the Prime Minister’s announcment on measures to transform mental health support in our schools, workplaces and communities.

Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England said:

“I am pleased that the Prime Minister is making children’s mental health an early priority.

“Children say they would like more help both in school and to prevent problems developing, so it is good news that teachers will be better prepared to provide this.

“Last year, I found that almost a third of children referred for specialist support are turned away. The measures announced by the Prime Minister provide an important opportunity ‎to make sure this does not continue and that children get the help with their mental health that they need.”
