Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England has commented on the Government’s consultation on implementing age checks on pornography websites:
“We know from our research that raising children on a diet of pornography is harmful – it affects their behaviour and attitudes towards relationships and sex. Children also consistently tell us that they want adult support to navigate the world in which they grow up – they need to understand what is and is not acceptable behaviour.
Much of what is depicted in online pornography would not be considered acceptable in real life and that is why it is vital that the Government consultation announced today results in urgent action.”
