Earlier this year, I was delighted to be commissioned by the Cabinet Office’s Disability Unit to explore in-depth the lives, experiences and needs of disabled children in England. Through this work I am keen to inform the Unit’s forthcoming Disability Action Plan.
Since then, my team and I have spoken to children, young people, parents and practitioners across the country to understand the challenges disabled children face, as well as what they want to see change.
I want to express my immense gratitude to the hundreds and thousands of children ,young people and parents whose voices contributed to this report. Change is possible and within reach, and I hope that the Government will seize this opportunity to be led by what disabled children tell us they want and need for a better world.
