We received a great response to our first Call to Action, which was asking children directly about what family means to them.
Over 3,700 told us about their thoughts and feelings on the family. When asked to pick three words describing families, the most popular responses were descriptions of people in their family (“mum”, “dad”, and “siblings”), words describing how family makes them feel (‘love’, ‘happy’, and “safe”) and words associated with family life (“support”, ‘caring’, “home” and “together”).
When asked to tell us about what family means to them, many children included stories about their family. In order to illustrate these stories directly, and to continue to build engagement with the review as the research continues, we are publishing this interactive app where people can explore all the anonymised responses.
