In our “children ask scientists about coronavirus” event, 12 young people from across the UK aged 7 to 19 asked scientists their questions about the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was organised by the Children’s Commissioner’s Offices for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales and was facilitated by GoScience, the government department who give scientific advice to the Prime Minister and members of the Cabinet.
We were really impressed with all the young people’s questions, which included topics about face masks, school busses, school uniforms, transmission rates and support bubbles. Thank you to Erin, Aidan, Joseph, Isla, Saffie, Millie, Matthew, Ellie, Ailidh, Evey, Ibby and Coll for taking part, you can listen back to all of the questions and answers asked during the session below.
We would also like to thank the three scientists, who are all members of Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), Professor Brooke Rogers, Professor Charlotte Watts and Professor Russell Viner for taking part and answering the children’s questions.
We received many more submissions from all 4 nations that we didn’t have time to ask during the live chat. Answers to questions that were not asked live will be made available on our website shortly.
