Description: An event dubbed ‘Mini Mayflowers’ was Boston Mayflower‘s effort for the national 11 Million Takeover Day.
Mayflower arranged for 12 pupils and two members of staff from the town’s St Nicholas Primary School to take control of a fictional scenario in which a play area had been vandalised and needed repairing. It included visits to CCTV, a meeting at Boston Police Station and action in various departments at Boston Mayflower.

Description: TAKEOVER DAY at Plan UK is all about demonstrating how children and young people can really add value.

The idea to participate in TAKEOVER DAYcame from our Youth Advisory Board who considered this as an opportunity to engage with a wider range of Plan UK departments and members of staff.

Our day will be taking place on 30 October 2009 to coincide with half term. More information: www.plan-uk.org/involved/YAP/

Description: Seven members of Rotherham Youth Cabinet began the day with 'political speed dating' at the Town Hall. This gave the young people three minutes to ask each councillor questions ranging from 'What's your favourite thing about your job?' to 'If you could have a super power, what would it be?' After this, the Youth Cabinet 'took over' the Council's Performance Scrutiny and Overview Committee (PSOC). One member of the group chaired discussion around 'a plastic bag free town' and recycling in schools
