The Children's Commissioner for England, Maggie Atkinson, is so concerned about how abuse and neglect are addressed in schools that she has commissioned research into how primaries are dealing with child protection concerns. New guidelines based on the findings will be published this autumn.
Commissioner mention: NSPCC investigates how primary schools deal with child protection (Community Care)
The NSPCC is to investigate how well England's primary schools deal with child protection concerns. The research, commissioned by the Office of the Children's commissioner, will form part of best practice guidance for schools, Local Safeguarding Children's Boards and other children's professionals. The guidance will be published by autumn 2012.
