OCC Statement on first Child Rights Impact Assessment (CRIA) 2012-13

4 July 2012

"In OCC's Business Plan for 2012-13 we committed to undertake a number of Child Rights Impact Assessments (CRIAs) to ensure legislation promotes children's rights and highlights potential violations. This follows our successful CRIA on the Welfare Reform Bill of January 2012 and the publication of our draft model for CRIAs. In this we outlined our proposed screening process and methodology for the assessments themselves.

Following a screening process, with input from Amplify, the Children's Commissioner's children and young people's advisory group, we have decided to carry out our first CRIA of 2012-13 on the Children and Families Bill. We hope to carry out our assessment during the Bill's pre-legislative scrutiny period. Our assessment will not, however, include those provisions relating to the new Office of the Children's Commissioner for England."
