Maggie Atkinson congratulates A-level exam students
19 August 2010
Maggie Atkinson, Children's Commissioner for England, congratulates A-level exam students, she said:
"Many congratulations and well done to all the young people who sat their A-level exams this year. The increase in the pass rate this year is a testament to their sheer hard work and commitment to developing the skills required for their future chosen paths. Some of these young people have succeeded despite considerable odds and difficulties in their lives.
"Although the current economic climate could present serious challenges to both those entering the jobs market and those who wish to continue their education, I am encouraging all young people to maintain the drive and determination that carried them through their exams. Young people today are resourceful, creative and enthusiastic and I have no doubt that the majority will seek out opportunities to progress, be that in education, employment or volunteering. The economic recovery is an encouraging sign for their future. It is up to us adults to celebrate their success and help them to be the best that they can be."
